RUWASA in collaboration with the Ministries responsible for Health, Education and PO-RALG have responsibilities to ensure sanitation services are well observed and practiced in rural areas. RUWASA therefore has to promote and sensitize rural communities on sanitation and hygiene practices as well as the protection and conservation of rural water sources.

RUWASA is also responsible for providing guidelines and soliciting funds for the implementation of sanitation services in rural areas.
